About the picture

This is a view of Howe Sound from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Howe Sound is North America’s most southerly fjord and it is a feature of The Salish Sea. You can glimpse the Sea-To-Sky highway as a twisted scar that flows along the base of the mountains. It is the only road from Vancouver to Whistler.

Ferries depart from Horseshoe Bay to the Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, to Bowen Island, and to the Sunshine Coast. These short journeys allow many visitors and residents the opportunity to sail the Salish Sea.
